About the research

Research objective: The overall objective of this research project is to examine current pile design and construction procedures used by the Iowa DOT and recommend changes and improvements to them that are consistent with available pile load test data, soils information, and bridge design practiced recommended by load and resistance factor design (LRFD). In this process, we will make it a priority to work towards recommended changes and improvements that do not significantly increase design and construction costs.
